Another Excellent set of GCSE Results!

August 22, 2019

Queen Elizabeth’s School is delighted to report that the Year 11 students achieved a highly impressive set of results in their GCSE examinations.  There were outstanding performances across the whole range of subjects. So many students performed exceptionally well resulting in an increase on grades compared to last year. 80% of all students gained a good pass in English and 79% in Mathematics. Students achieved extremely well across the board with particular successes in Triple Science, Further Mathematics, PE, and French. The number of students obtaining the top grade 9’s increased.

These results maintain the impressive trend of continuous improvement over successive years. However, most importantly is the thoroughly well-deserved achievement for all of the hardworking students. They have not only met the challenge of new rigorous examinations but have done it in a year when the sporting, artistic, musical, scientific, linguistic and dramatic extra-curricular achievements of the school were at their highest in terms of participation and outcomes.

The school recognises the achievement of all students at all levels and behind these figures lie countless individual student success stories but some examples of those achieving the highest grades are:

Matthew Parslow - 9,9,9,9,9,9,9,9,8,8,A^

Martha Tribe - 9,9,9,9,9,9,9,9,8,8,A^

Joshua Bourton – 9,9,9,9,9,9,9,9,9,9, A*

Joe Parnam – 9,9,9,9,9,9,7,A*, A*

Adele Morgan Delarboulas = 9,9,9,9,9,8,8,8,8,A*

Remi Dewhirst – 9,9,9,9,9,8,7,7,7,6

Lucy Gladdis – 9,9,9,9,9,8,8,8,6,6 and B

Joseph Louden – 9,9,9,9,8,8,8,8,7,A*

Headteacher, Katie Boyes, is absolutely delighted by the pupils’ efforts and the excellent outcomes that they have achieved:

“The students have worked exceptionally hard throughout their time at QE and thoroughly deserve the excellent outcomes that they have achieved. Their hard work and commitment has been exemplary at a time when GCSE examinations have been reformed to incorporate such rigorous assessment. I would also like to thank all the teaching and support staff for their dedication which has supported students in achieving these excellent results.”
