Economics

The faculty follows the EDEXCEL GCE Economics specification. Students are taught a wide range of topics in the macro and micro areas.

In the first year of the course students are introduced to the micro economic concepts of the economic problem, supply and demand and market failure. In macro they study the wider economy including the causes of unemployment, inflation and economic growth.

In year two these initial concepts are studied in greater depth. Students study the theory of the firm including the concepts of costs and productivity. In the second half of the year, the course concludes with the study of international economics including globalisation and international trade.

Economics at QE has proven to be successful with students acquiring transferable skills of analysis and evaluation.

Many QE Economists continue their studies at university or leave education into full time employment.
