Course Content & Assessment

We also provide the opportunity for the pursuit of excellence and competition for those who desire it, through the medium of an extensive extra-curricular programme (please see link below); which makes use of staff from within the school and coaches from local clubs. Two major events that feature in the year are QE School Games Sports Days and Rock Challenge (a national dance competition). The school is succeeding in county, district, and national competitions in a range of sports (both individuals and teams) and we are equipping students to enter professional careers in sport. We also run the Duke of Edinburgh Award which is hugely successful and attracts around 100 students ever year.

The sports facilities at QE are outstanding, and include an indoor heated swimming pool, fitness suite, floodlit netball/tennis courts plus a 5-court sports hall containing an excellent climbing wall, a floodlit Astroturf hockey pitch, a dance studio, extensive fields and an athlete education centre. We also have 4 dedicated PE classrooms for theory lessons, with interactive whiteboards and laptops.

We are committed to developing Sport through the Community and the Community through Sport. Consequently, we have an excellent relationship with QE Leisure Centre, local sports clubs, including Wimborne Wayfarers, Wimborne Athletics Club and of course our Middle School feeder schools.

Sport Extra
Our extra-curricular programme is extensive. Opportunities are provided for the pursuit of excellence, competition and participation for those who desire it. Pupils are actively encouraged in lessons by our dedicated team to attend extra-curricular clubs to further develop their knowledge and skills in the sports they are studying, as well as having lots of fun and trying something new too.
